After working in healthcare systems, leading teams, and coaching nurses across roles, I’ve seen the same pattern play out over and over again:

1️⃣ A smart, capable nurse (or leader) sees a problem — or room to improve — at work.

2️⃣ She thinks it through, comes up with a potential fix, and raises the alarm. Maybe she escalates it to her manager or brings it to a council or team discussion.

3️⃣ It gets acknowledged. It might even be called a “great idea.” But nothing actually changes.

4️⃣ So she follows up. Brings it up again. Tries to get buy-in. Puts more energy into pushing it forward.

5️⃣ At this point, one of two things happens:

     👉🏼 She stops bringing things up because it’s clearly not going anywhere

     👉🏼 Or she keeps pushing, takes it on herself, and ends up carrying more work without real authority to change anything

6️⃣ Either way, she ends up frustrated. And over time, she ends up either disengaged OR burned out from fighting the same battles with no real movement.

This cycle doesn’t play out because nurses aren’t capable of making change.

Hey there — I’m Claire!

I believe that understanding how systems actually work is what allows you to create real change inside them.

After becoming a nurse, working in the ER, and stepping into frontline leadership, I kept working with the same nurses: people who cared deeply about improving healthcare…with no clear way to actually make change happen.

So I went deeper.

I completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice in Health Innovation and Leadership, and built my career at the intersection of clinical care, leadership, and system design — working inside healthcare systems while also coaching nurses across roles.

Systems thinking and real-world application are at the center of Nursing the System, the  two things that are still largely missing in how we expect nurses to lead change.

Now I coach, teach, and develop tools like Map Your Impact, helping nurses understand where their effort actually matters, how to navigate complex systems, and how to create change without burning themselves out.

My #1 goal is to give you an avenue to use what you already know and care about…in a way that actually works.
